Edinburgh Leisure works in partnership with the local authority departments of health, education, social services and the
police. Edinburgh Leisure has reviewed it's child protection policy to ensure it complies with changes in legislation and
includes guidance on emerging areas of concern e.g. use of photographs and the internet. The reviewed policy will also cover
the protection of vulnerable adults. Edinburgh Leisure has a long term plan for the implementation of their policy and a designated
Child Protection Officer for leisure.
Copies of the policy are provided to staff, volunteers, coaches, parents, young people, clubs, students, other Scottish
local authorities, sponsors and shopping centres. Information on reporting concerns about children is distributed by way of
leaflets, training, courses and pocket sized information cards.
Child protection training is available to staff, coaches, volunteers and seasonal staff. Training is carried out monthly
for induction and thereafter, annual refresher training. Training is reviewed quarterly through the use of evaluation
forms. Edinburgh Leisure seeks information on child protection safeguards from organisations applying for external lets.
